ANYWAYS, TODAY we are going to be talking about something that makes everyone feel uncomfortable: wrinkles. It’s practically a swear word in the beauty community and I don’t know anybody who is shouting from the rooftops about the lines around their eyes and mouth, amright? Luckily, I’m sharing 7 ways to natural prevent these little suckers so let’s dive into this.
How To Prevent Wrinkles – The Easy Way
This post is sponsored by SIOBeauty. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
ONE: Sunscreen
This can’t be stressed enough. And I know what you’re thinking: how does sunscreen prevent wrinkles?! Well, because every time you get a sunburn, you damage your skin and leave it vulnerable to premature aging (aka: wrinkles). The use of regular sunscreen can keep your skin protected from UV rays and other harmful sun rays which in turn leaves your skin looking youthful and glowy.
TWO: HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE
Sorry. I know this one is obvious. But it’s true. Water is amazing because it helps prevent your wrinkles from the inside out. Not only does it help your retain collagen and elasticity of your skin as your age, but it also plumps up your skin cells so that they appear more full and less wrinkly. 10/10. Try to get at least 8 glasses of water in a day (I’m trying to shoot for at least a gallon a day but failing so send me good thoughts), or at least fill up a large water bottle and sip on it throughout the day so you are constantly hydrating your body. Remember: if you are already thirsty, your body has been dehydrated for a while now. Drink before your get thirsty so you can stay on top of it.
THREE: Sleeping on your back
This can be the toughest one for people and I totally get it. Sleeping on your back isn’t necessarily something that is easy to do if you are used to sleeping on your side or on your stomach. I have been working hard to retrain my body to be comfortable sleeping on my back because I was noticing a difference in the sides of my face, wrinkle-wise. That is totally normal if you are smooshing one side of your face every night when you sleep, unfortunately, so the best way to sleep so you don’t prematurely wrinkle your skin is on your back! Using silk pillow cases can also help with wrinkling as it’s gentler on your skin than cotton blends if sleeping on your back is totally impossible.
FOUR: Load up on antioxidants
Antioxidants protect your body from a lot of different things in the environment. Base your diet around foods that are rich in antioxidants – Vitamins A, C, E and beta carotene for example – so they can fight cell damage and free radicals in your body. Think any kind of fruit and veggie and saturated fats and omega 3’s. Basically, if you have a balanced and healthy diet, you’re going to be in good shape for keeping your body at the top of it’s wrinkle-fighting game.
FIVE: Use a really good moisturizer – morning AND night
This is a no-brainer. Good skincare can make a HUUUGE difference in the amount of wrinkles on your face. Even if you can’t afford to be going out and getting facials every single week (who does?!), you can make sure you are using skincare products that are doing you some good. A REALLY GOOD moisturizer can be a huge game changer in your face care and it doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. Make sure you are using it in the morning to start your day off (bonus points if your moisturizer comes with built in SPF – hit two birds with one stone!) and every single night after you remove your makeup and go to bed. Going to be in your makeup can also cause premature aging – so just do yourself a favor and wipe the makeup off of your face before you crawl under the covers.
SIX: Get enough sleep at night
This can be tough for us night owls. I totally get it. I personally need between 6.5-8 hours of sleep every night to really function well during the day so I do my best to make sure that no matter what, I’m getting enough sleep even if I stay up until midnight. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body is running on empty and it can’t do everything it needs to to keep you in tip top shape. Things start to slip like: dark circles and bags under your eyes, drooping around the mouth and brow furrowing. You definitely don’t want your mouth to be in a permanent frown (literally my worst nightmare) so get enough sleep so you don’t have to worry about it.
SEVEN: Use SIOBeauty Eye Lift patches
This is the easiest one of all because you can see almost instant results (thank the lord). I’ve been using SIOBeauty products for almost a year now and have yet to be disappointed in any of them. My new favorite obsession from this brand are the Super Eye Lift patches. They specifically target crows feet and under eye wrinkles (the BANE of my existence) to give you a youthful and lifted appearance. The more you use them, the less the wrinkles will appear on your face. All of the patches from SIOBeauty are made with medical grade silicone and intensify hydration/promote the skin’s natural ability to retain moisture and produce collagen. Win, win and WIN. Here’s the low-down on how to use this product: this patch goes from the inner corner of your eye to right below your brow bone. Just peel the plastic off of the back and place the sticky side on your face. You can reuse these again and again – but I recommend using them on a clean face because makeup can interfere with the stickiness of the patch. Use them over night or just for a few hours to for a wrinkle-reducing boost and rinse them with water when you’re done! Easy peasy.
