Happy Thursday, everyone!! Today, I’m talking about my baby, Evivo probiotics, and whether or not introducing a probiotic into your baby’s system is a good idea. Before I get started – I wanted to share that I am NOT a substitute for a pediatrician. I will never, ever claim that the information and knowledge I’m sharing is better than your doctor, nor am I making any kind of claim that this is a one-size-fits-all kind of situation. As moms, we have a certain intuition when it comes to our babies. You know what’s best for your little one. I just want to share something that I didn’t know before having a baby – and definitely wish I had. SO. Take it all with a grain of salt, talk with your pediatrician if you feel inspired to try out Evivo and above everything else, always: love those littles. Let’s dive into this.

Does My Baby Need A Probiotic? Here’s Everything You Need To Know.

This post is sponsored by Evivo, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Let’s talk about Evivo before we get started.

If you take a look at the Evivo website, you’ll see a little bit about the gut’s microbiomes.

Research on the gut microbiome has led to the identification of hundreds of types of bacteria, some of which are sold as probiotics for your baby. However, not all probiotics work the same and it’s important to choose the right one. B. infantis EVC001 is the strain that matters.

So, I did a little digging myself. Coming from a background in biochemistry, I put my old college hat back on and took at look at what this really means. According to the University of California, scientists have discovered that the nutrients in breast milk feed your baby (of course) but they also feed the bacteria in your baby’s gut microbiome. And here is the kicker:

Breast milk contains all the nutrients baby needs for growth and development in the first 6 months of life. However,  a major portion of the nutrients in breast milk, Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs), are indigestible by your baby without the help of B. infantis.  In fact, without B. infantis as much as 15% of the nutrients in your breast milk are wasted in your baby’s diaper.

YIKES. I work hard for that breast milk. I want ALL of it to get digested by my little man. So – I wanted to find a way to restore the GOOD bacteria in Jack’s gut so that he can push out the bad stuff and retain as many nutrients as possible. Evivo is the ONLY baby probiotic that is clinically proven to effectively restore B. infantis to baby’s gut.

A little more about baby gut health.

The first 6 months of a baby’s life is the most important when it comes to building a good autoimmune and metabolic system. The makeup of your baby’s gut microbiome at this time is critical to that development.

The composition of the gut microbiome is linked to a few common occurrences like colic, eczema, allergies, diabetes, and obesity in later life. You want the good bacteria to crowd out the bad stuff so those things won’t be present in your little one. According to research, 9 out of 10 babies experience a disruption in the good bacteria by the bad bacteria.

SOME FACTS/MYTHS:

Myth #1:  Baby looks healthy, so their gut is heathy!

Nope! This isn’t necessarily true! In fact, as I stated above, 90% of babies actually have low functioning gut bacteria.

Myth #2: Baby will eventually grow out of tummy trouble.

This isn’t necessarily true. The first 6 months are CRITICAL in establishing good gut bacteria.

Myth #3: Baby probiotics are only needed as symptoms arise.

You can (and SHOULD) get ahead of the game with probiotics so that you can PREVENT things before they occur.

Myth #4: There isn’t enough science to prove infant probiotics are effective or actually work.

Evivo has spent the last DECADE researching and conducting clinical trials studying the importance of B. infantis in the gut.

Myth #5: All probiotics are the same.

Nope again! Evivo is the ONLY probiotic clinically proven to 100% restore B. infantis in the gut and reduce the bad bacteria by 80%.

Every baby is different.

I encourage you to do some research on whether or not Evivo is right for you and your baby. We all want to keep our babies healthy for LIFE. It’s our goal as parents to raise a healthy, happy, strong individual. Evivo wants to give you the tools to make sure that happens. 1. You’ve done so much research on this and learned so much. I appreciate you sharing your valuable insight. Even though I don’t have any kiddos of my own, I know so many mamas who may not be aware of this information, so I’ll be passing it on to them!
