This is my birthday letter to my sweet boy. I cannot believe how fast the last year went. It feels like we were just taking Jack Henry Mobley home from the hospital, all brand new and smelling like a sweet newborn. I will never forget seeing his face for the first time or watching Adam cut his umbilical cord. Motherhood has been such an incredible journey. BIG thank you to Erin Sexauer for these incredible family pictures – check out her site here and book her immediately.
Dear Jack Henry: You are ONE, today!
Our sweetest little love,
We cannot believe how fast the last year has FLOWN. You spent a good portion of that in quarantine during a global pandemic – so you’ve already crossed off being alive while history is being made. You took it in stride and have remained SO happy regardless of being stuck inside day in and day out.
Some milestones you have reached by your big day:
- You LOVE to make people laugh.
- You never stop moving – and your favorite word is yelling “GO” when you have to be still.
- You love Archer, and Archer loves you! You guys are going to be best buddies.
- Watermelon and Cheerios are your favorite foods!
- You finally take normal naps – for the first 8 months of your life you didn’t nap longer than 30 minutes at a time!
- You crawl everywhere and you are fast.
- You love to pull up and stand now and it’s hard to get you to stay seated for any length of time.
- You HATE having your diaper changed or putting new outfits on.
- You loved bath time until about a month ago, and now it’s the worst.
- You have two adorable bottom teeth.
- You suck your thumb and it’s so stinking cute.
- You say “mama” and “dada” but mostly dada.
- You can point us out in pictures on the wall.
- You absolutely LOVE pulling fan cords and watching them turn on. We could stand there with you and do it for hours.
- You’ve been on 3 airplanes, a train and lots of cars!
- You are in the 50th percentile for everything – height, weight and head size!
Daddy and mommy are so enamored with you, little J. It’s hard to imagine a time in which our entire world didn’t revolve around you and making you happy. We wish we could have taken you on more adventures this first year, but luckily we’ve got lots of years to make up for it.
We love you so much and hope that we can be the very best parents we can for you. We hope to raise you to be a smart, strong, kind human. At the end of the day, I hope we can teach you that compassion and kindness are two of the most important traits a person can have.
Here’s to the close of the best year of mommy and daddy’s lives – and here’s to many, many more!
All the hugs and all the kisses –
Mommy & Daddy
I don’t know if you were able to get through that without crying buttttt…..I definitely cried the ENTIRE time I wrote it. I am still in awe of the fact that I get to be Jack’s mom. God definitely has a divine plan. Stay tuned for Jack’s birthday party reveal – I’ll be sharing behind the scenes on Saturday on my instagram but check back Monday for all the pictures and recap!
