Raise your hand if you think that cleaning your whole house weekly is extremely daunting (all of your hands should be raised). Raise both hands if you have toddlers, pets or men living in your home…and your cleaning routine just isn’t what is should be.
Today I am bringing you a piece of advice that will change your life (if you follow it…which you won’t always. because life happens…and that is okay). Cleaning your home, depending on the size and number of pets+children, can be a nightmare if it isn’t kept up with. And I don’t know about you, but I like a clean home. My little house is relatively easy to keep up with because A) it is one bedroom and B) I don’t have any children. BUT, the easy to follow guidelines I am going to give you today are both mom-approved and will cut down your Saturday morning cleaning time by more than half, I promise. So let’s jump into this.
Weekly Cleaning Routine Checklist
Some quick notes about this list: this is not the end-all-be-all of cleaning checklists. If something is dirty, clean it right away. Also: sanitation is completely up to you. This list mostly represents the bare minimum one can get away with and still have a clean and presentable home. If you are more of a neat freak…by all means, add some more to that daily list! Use this as a guide to get started. 🙂
Little germ fact for you: the average desk has 400x more bacteria than your toilet seat. GROSS. Part of my major at college involved taking an entire course strictly on bacteria. Most importantly, the bacteria that we come in contact with in our homes every day. After that, I cleaned our house obsessively every day for weeks. After I realized that was ridiculous and I wasn’t getting anything else done, I sat down to make this list to keep our house clean, organized and bacteria-free (mostly — unfortunately…we can’t kill everything).
I hope this helps some of you and from now on, you are able to keep your home spotless (again…mostly 😉 ). I know I always feel and work much better when I am doing it in a clean home. And now, you can have that, too…without sacrificing valuable family time (or friend time…or play time…whatever is your fancy).
Be sure to pin this checklist and share it with your friends! Let me know in the comments below how you like to keep clean and what your favorite room in the house is!
Until next time,
Love it! Awesome post
Thank you!
such good tips – going to have to try this approach to get more organized. and beautiful photos, girlfriend!

That is a great checklist! I like to tidy up common rooms at the end of each day. Just takes a couple of minutes and I always feel refreshed when I walk out of my room in the morning. Thanks for sharing your checklist!
No problem Elizabeth!
Hi Taylor, what a great list for us! Really appreciate it; so helpful and a great reminder of things I may not be doing on a scheduled basis!

So glad you enjoyed it!!
This is super helpful! I try to clean pretty regularly but I usually end up forgetting something here or there.
There is nothing better than having a clean house. It’s driving me crazy that I am still unpacking after moving and so even when things are clean they don’t feel like they are. Thank you so much for the list! I think it’s going to help me get my booty in gear so that I can finish getting my house back together and feeling clean
I hope so Jamie!!! I am so glad you liked it!!!
This is a great list! I hate cleaning but I love tidying and organizing. Ironically, my hubs is more of a clean freak than me…
Thanks for putting this in such an organized and cute manner! Really helpful! =)
I think I have a similar check-list already! I wipe my desk down every other day, I got in the habit when I worked in the bank because clients were always soooo dirty, though then I did it every day!
I love love your bathtub photo!!
Thanks Angela!!!
Your blog is beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Michelle!!!!
Great checklist! Could definitely use it to keep up with my housecleaning.
I hope you do!
What a helpful list! I feel like I think better when my house is clean. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. Hopefully this will help. Stumbling to share.
Thank you Annissa!!!
My mom has always been a neat-freak. I will gladly show her this list so that she won’t be that stressed anymore. Nice job, Taylor! xx
Thank you Renee!!!
As far as germs go….I bought some nice little toothbrush holders on Amazon that has a clear cover that closes over them. Perfect for the kids bathroom that is small and used by any visitors.
Yes! That is awesome!
Ok, I seriously need to print this out and put it on my fridge! I get overwhelmed and my cleaning lady quit so I’m floundering. Haha!
Seriously do it! It will make your life SO much easier!
I love this! I definitely need to organize how I clean things better, I try and do too much at once and get overwhelmed!
So true! little bits at a time 🙂
This is great, its so helpful to keep a checklist so you can keep up on the cleaning.
Thanks Debra!
I’m going to print this checklist and stick on my fridge door! lol 🙂 What about windows? How often would you say they should be cleaned?
I think window should be cleaned once monthly. I always do my windows (inside and out), and the window frames once a month. If you have littles or dogs, I would clean glass doors bi-weekly because of little fingers and wet puppy noses!
I love this post! And the pretty colours made reading about cleaning fun!
Thanks Alysha!! So glad you liked it!!!
This is such a great post and also a reminder of everything that should be done in our homes! Thank you for sharing x
Awesome !
400x more bacteria than your TOILET SEAT!! GAH!! I had to read that part out loud to my kids who all in unison said EWW! I agree, eww!! So, I guess you know what we’re doing today, and I don’t think I’ll have a problem either. 😀
Thanks for sharing.
XO
RIGHT? SO GROSS. My husband also said ew. Luckily, we can seriously cut down on that by regularly cleaning!
Great list to start off with! I have 6 children, so I know the meaning of “cleaning” everyday and “deep cleaning” once a week. My seasonal cleaning involves, windows, walls and so on. Great post!
Perfect list! I like to go through the house daily and do basic stuff so that when bigger stuff rolls around, it won’t be difficult to get it spotless.
Exactly!! My thoughts too!!
I absolutely love lists but I didn’t have a cleaning list. Thank you! I might have to reboot it if you don’t mind ???? Lifewithsalsa.com
No problem girl 🙂
Absolutely amazing! As a former cleaning business owner and professional, I can tell you that checklists are the only way to go! Nothing says efficiency like a checklist. It’s also good that your lists are lightly balanced.
SO true, Heidi!! I would be lost without my checklist!!!
Yep…. Have totally tried this genius cleaning routine a few times. Looks perfect… but I can never stick with it, as easy as it is. So – the weekend is always the “winner” to do it all. Sigh…
Haha! Sometimes, that is just the way it goes!!!!
What a great check list; totally doable! I really need to get more organized and this will help!
I absolutely adore this list. It’s similar to the one I use on a weekly basis. Very helpful for keeping up on the house!
Thank you Jocelyn!!!!!
What a lovely list! Very handy to have to keep on top of cleaning! 🙂
I love this! I’m literally the worst cleaner in the world. I hate it and don’t do it unless I REALLY have to, but something like this makes it easier to break down and means I’m more likely to actually do it!
Confession: I hate doing dishes. My husband always does them. But I hate a dirty kitchen more than I hate dirty dishes!
Being a mama of 4 and married YEAH I need to keep a list in check EVERYDAY otherwise they would win Ha. Love your list.. As a matter of fact I was going to start my planning for next week.
PERFECT! So glad you like it Ellie!!
It’s one of those days when cleaning is the last thing I feel like doing… but your glamourous, clean photos make it seem worth doing. Thanks for inspiring me to make my home looks as nice as yours.
No problem, Theresa 🙂
I swear I spend so much time making my to do list that I never get to the actual cleaning. This is a great simple list! Thanks for the graphic!
Great breakdown of how to keep everything in tip top shop! Hugs, Kait
http://www.baskinginburgundy.com
What a great infographic! I will admit that I probably won’t be doing any of those things religiously. I do make the bed everyday though! I’ll just show this to my husband and get him to do it. LOL!
I love how simple this cleaning routine is! Having one makes the task so much less daunting, after all, who likes cleaning?!
Awesome checklist! I’m going to print this out and put it on my fridge. Some of them I do and some I need to work on! xo
These are very helpful tips, thank you so much for sharing!
I need to stick to a routine like this! Although I need to clean my microwave weekly, I’m always making a mess!
Oh how I need this. I often feel so overwhelmed with cleaning and all I have to do. This will help!
SO glad you think so Amber!
I used to think I never needed a cleaning checklist b/c I know how to clean my house. But having kids and a super busy schedule means a list does the thinking and reminding for me!
Def need to customize one of these to my space!
I’m tired just by reading it. I feel like that’s all I do. Every day all day.
This is such a great checklist considering I am guilty if OVERCLEANING! This will def give me a reason to clean accordingly
The checklist is awesome but what I really want to talk about is the tub tray in your photo. I love it.
Thank you Jill!!!!
This is really a great checklist. Very detailed, covers everything, and outlined and designed to make things easier. I just love this! Sharing it on facebook.
Thank you Sheri!!! 🙂
Absolutely agree, as with two children it’s even more complicated. I try to do the necessary and if i have extra energy I do more.
Thank you
This a great start off list, although I do have a two bedroom and a hectic lifestyle, is hard for me to keep up with the cleaning.I love the simple steps printing out and putting this on my fridge.

@sheismelrose
Thank you Melody!!!!
Cleaning is one of my habit, your list makes me organize-well, I’m really thankful of that.
Girl I needed this! I always feel so overwhelmed with the house… I just started homeschooling, I do my blog, AND I just took a part time social media marketing job. It doesn’t leave a lot of other time… This is extremely helpful!
I’m so glad you thought so!!!
I love housecleaning and I love keeping my home fresh! My list is huge! I love the simplicity of yours, it feels manageable!
Great checklist. Checking for expired food is important. When we started renovating our basement, I found a bunch.
Pinning this because i love the simple, easy to use checklist!
Yay!! SO glad Amy!
These are great tips! I love having a cleaning routine, it helps me so much and really helps us to keep our house cleaner!
This was a great list-I’ve been looking for something I could print out & keep in my planner to remind me what was on the cleaning schedule for the day, so I hope you don’t mind that I printed this off so I could hold onto it! Great list, girl!
xoxo, SS

Girl! I am so glad you did!!!!!
This checklist is amazing! Gotta put it up on my fridge!
thanks for sharing very nice tips
I love this list! I am always scrambling on Fridays to get everything done. Breaking up is such super idea
SO simple but a fantastic list. Nice job!
I like reorganizing and cleaning my closets every season, too. It always feels refreshing to start a new season with a clean closet. I try to clean my linens once every two weeks. Love your cleaning tips!
Thanks Jennifer!
Great checklist. We just gave the house a good deep cleaning this weekend in preparation for fall.
Its great to deep clean!
I always feel so overwhelmed when I have to clean the house at the end of the week. I really like the idea of a checklist to keep me focused and that I can check off item by item.
This is a great post. I try to do little things daily. Now it is window cleaning for this week. Fall is in the air and I feel like cleaning. 🙂
Good checklist. We just did a major cleaning last weekend. Now I’m trying to tackle the clutter that two kids, a husband, and myself have accumulated. Ugh. 🙂
I make sure that I have a checklist at home as well. I don’t like breaking from my cleaning routine or missing anything around the house either. I love that you divided these from days to weeks to months, that’s so much easier especially if you’re cleaning the house on your own.
I hate to say that I need this, but I do…a lot. I am really good at the purging, and the deep clean seasonally, but the everyday stuff seems to get away from me too often.
I love your guide! I love having a clean house but I struggle with keeping it clean as in dusted, swept, etc but I always keep it picked up- everything is put away and counters are clear. I have two dogs that shed A LOT and it’s impossible to keep up with. My goal this fall is to get into a cleaning habit and stay on top of things.
I admire your blog so much and love following it for posts like this one. Great tips.
Thank you Kim!
I love a good check list or to do list!!
I need to print this out and put it on my fridge. I hate those days when I wake up and have to clean the entire house – it’s impossible! And you’re right when you have toddlers and they “help” you, it take 50 times longer than it should.
SO helpful! I am printing this out and following it! Thank you thank you!
You are so welcome Julie!!!
These are very helpful tips. I clean the house regularly, so everything will be easier to clean during the weekend.
I am literally PRINTING this lol – it’s going on my fridge so I can maybe have some semblance of an organized home. I’ll need to add “clean up your constant stream of craft supplies throughout the house” to the ‘everyday’ list lol <3
-Clarissa @ The View From Here
LOL You go girl!!!!!
I use a list very similar to this for cleaning my house! If I had to take on cleaning the entire thing every time I would be beyond overwhelmed!
I love cleaning checklists. I feel like they are very helpful when it comes to actually keeping me organized with staying clean.
well you have managed to break it down to where it doesn’t “seem” so daunting – lol. Maybe I can handle this now 😉
These are great tips. I think I do a lot of these things more often than on the list but it’s a great base for people that don’t know where to begin or may feel overwhelmed.
What a great checklist!!!! With Fall pretty much gear I’ve been in full cleaning mode trying to prepare for the colder months!
Love that you can have a checklist for cleaning and actually never though of it. Thanks for sharing this, I will definitely try this 🙂
That would really help me stay in check on my cleaning. I know that there are certain things that don’t get cleaned regularly around my house because I just can’t remember them all. This would remind me.
I need this kind of checklist too. Thanks for sharing. I might also create one for my own work.
My favorite room of the house is my office and living room! My house is kind of messy (but I don’t really mind). We plan buying a house by the end of the year, which will definitely help me keep everything cleaned all the time, since there will be more space and since we will buy lots more furniture!
This is an amazing checklist! How helpful and convenient to have on hand!
Great post! I should print this out and laminate it for my fridge, lol

Really great and helpful tips to keep me on a cleaning schedule! Seems so simple too! Thanks for the inspiration!
So helpful! Love all of the little lists – needed this! Thank you!
No problem 🙂
