Beauty Haul: Drugstore Edition.

So sometimes you wander into Ulta Beauty and you say to yourself, “I’m not going to buy anything today, I’m just going to get some ideas and work with what I already have!” and that, my friends, is what we call a bald-faced lie.

I have actually never been able to go into Ulta without purchasing something now that I think about it…is that totally embarrassing?? I mean what am I supposed to do when matte lipsticks are buy one get one 1/2 off and I have a coupon? I digress.

REGARDLESS. I bought things and I feel pretty good about them so let’s talk about it.

Wet n’ Wild MegaLiner in Voltage Blue: 6/10

Remember earlier this week when I did my instagram trends post (find it here if you have no idea what I’m talking about)? This is the eyeliner I used for day 3. All you dark brown eyed ladies? Pretty pretty please pick this up at your next drugstore stop. It will look INCREDIBLE on you. I was kind of luke warm about it, but I always try to play up my eyes and they are green so this didn’t do too much for that situation. I did have to do a few coats to get the bright blue I was hoping for, but it stayed for most of the day. My oily lids got the best of it about 5 hours in, though.

Price wise? $2.99  Staying power? B+ Boldness of color? B+

Feeling Beautiful Dead Sea Minerals Anti-Stress Mask: 7/10

This stuff is pretty good actually. I bought it because it isn’t very expensive and claimed to have anti-stress qualities (who couldn’t use some of that, amiright ladies). It smells AMAZING and makes you look like an alien in the process so it’s kind of a win win there. It claims to clear pores, but I don’t know if I really feel like it does that. It also claims to smooth skin and there it totally excels. I always have to touch my face a lot after I wash it off. I do feel like it calms me after using it but that could totally be a placebo affect because I want it to calm me down. Either way, works for me.

Price wise? $3.95 Do claims hold up? B- Fun to put on? A

NYX Super Skinny Eye Marker in Black: 8.5/10

Alright. Disclaimer. I was spoiled with my Stila liner for a long time..then I decided to find out if there was a drugstore equivalent to my ride or die liner. I went with Maybelline’s Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner first and it’s a good liner. Was it comparable to Stila? No way. The tip was too long and just didn’t hold it’s shape very well. It also dried up pretty quickly. So it was time for round two. This NYX liner is actually fairly comparable to Stila (*GASP* I know). The tip is the same size and sharpness, and it has a very bold color. I don’t need to do multiple layers. It is waterproof so it stays even through my oily skin. I will have to let you all know how long it lasts. So far, I’m pretty impressed.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Seduction and Geranium: 7.5/10

I am pretty impressed with these colors. I was looking for some colors to add to my ever growing collection of matte lipsticks that I didn’t have yet. I have to say, I have 4 of the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks and ADORE those. I was looking for a less pricey alternative to quench my thirst for new colors. I was wanted to try out the NYX Matte Lip Cream but the Ulta I was in literally only had brown. Which would be beautiful on some of you. Just not me. So the search continued. I stumbled upon these particular lipsticks and sampled them in the store. Beautifully matte without being drying with bold color that lasted through my Panera Bread soup in a bread bowl (not many lipsticks can do that). I am pleasantly surprised with the ease of application and the look of the packaging. The smell of the lipstick however, is straight up AWFUL. Seriously. So bad. Luckily, the smell goes away once the lipstick dries but I suggest holding your nose while applying.

Price wise? $8.99 Staying power? A- Boldness of color? A-
